Our client in the US was losing sales due to rising costs of raw materials and needed to reduce category spend, but also rebalance supplier base to address the rising importance of global markets. As VP Procurement, engaged in developing global supplier diversification strategy/reduce spend. Analysed spending information & projected future volumes; used in-depth knowledge to identify capable suppliers in emerging markets; created RFQ package, inviting potential suppliers to the conference; analysed responses & conducted multiple negotiation rounds and succeeded in identifying $20M in savings & achieved supplier diversification.

REAL ESTATE

A large real estate business needed to overhaul and assess its group procurement function’s maturity and approach to indirect spend across its multi-billion portfolio to improve performance. IPG led the procurement transformation across multiple sites. Reviewed, assessed, prioritised consolidation of indirect category spend; established sourcing strategies for key services; designed future state vision and strategy to enable the business to become leaders in the sector; and developed onboarding tool for new suppliers to improve compliance reporting and succeeded in identifying £1.7M savings in first 100 days.

POWER GENERATION

Our client needed to reduce its cost base quickly, but sustainably by refining its current procurement strategy as Head of Procurement engaged in designing and implementing the comprehensive cost-saving strategy. Analysed data/benchmarked sample of contracts; reviewed supplier selection/ management processes; interviewed stakeholders to determine requirements/expectations; identified opportunities across indirect categories, setting up three workstreams; and developed ‘phased plan’ to implement savings and succeeded in delivering £1.5M savings by project end.

AEROSPACE 

A manufacturer of components and assemblies for the civil and military aero engine and airframe markets needed to implement improved supplier management processes to increase performance and reduce inventory as Head of Supply Chain engaged in designing and implementing new processes. Developed standardised, user-friendly tools/templates to facilitate performance management; engaged with suppliers and jointly agreed on QDC objectives; introduced live data to provide accurate/timely metrics, and implemented a robust performance management system and succeeded in reducing inventory by 28% and improving OTIF score by 30% in first six weeks.

DEFENCE

Our clients newly appointed CPO wanted to drive a change programme using quick wins to finance it within aggressive timescales. As Procurement Director, led project to identify quick wins. Identified issues in indirect spend categories/implemented cost-savings; developed plans for targeted supplier negotiations; led negotiations with suppliers to realise savings; supported inexperienced procurement team to improve knowledge; and liaised with stakeholders to raise awareness of the value of procurement’s role in other projects. We succeeded in delivering quick win savings of £5M, which accelerated the main project.
